Parker and his #16 car

Last night was Parker's first ever Pinewood Derby for scouts.  Before we left, he was bothered by something or another on his car, and made the statement: "My car's not going to win anything."

So I was happy for him when, after getting the car weighed (and it being right on the money) in the very first race, his car got first!  Now, whatever else happened the rest of the night, it wouldn't matter, because he got first in the very first race!

Then, he got first again.  And again.  And again.

Yes, he did get second two or three times.  He even got fourth once, but then they had a redo since something went wrong.  Then it was changed to third, and they kept that time, but fixed the track because something was off.

Then, at the end of the night after getting "The Smoothie" award, the winners were announced. And guess what?!

Parker got first place!  He was a happy boy.
